Forgotten Coastal Africa
The Single thing that I have noticed on my travels throughout coastal Africa is that these communities are largely left out of the global conversation. It could possibly be that most of the western newspapers reports such negatively on Africa, that they forget to write about the miles and miles of dazzling coastline that is comparable to well known tropical places such as the Caribbean, The Maldives and Indonesia.
It almost feels as though that Coastal Africa is completely forgotten in not only the media but also in circles of policy development.
Wherever the conversation may lead, whether that is the new Blue Economy, the booming opportunities that exists in Algae Research or conserving energy, Coastal Africa is still terra incognita.
It is very hard to believe that this is the modern era and that Africa is still an important part of this planet.
Perhaps it could simply mean that there aren’t enough players in the conversation on African Coastal Development to supply information to the International Community.
Maybe this is exactly where the East Africa Seaweed Company comes into the story. Using our energy and resources to develop an entire industry in African Mari culture, Raise the standard of living for coastal communities and include Africa as a serious contender in the growing ” Blue Economy Initiative”.
